Are you using Excel or Google Sheets like a notepad? Do you want to use these tools to answer business questions or give you information you need?
If you said yes to the above, Huzzah! I'm going to share 3 spreadsheet functions available in Excel and/or Google Sheets and what instances you can use them for your programs!
CONCATENATE()
This function allows you to combine data from 2 columns into 1. This works very well for combining "text strings" such as a first and last name. If you have a sign up form that collects First and Last name but you want to sort data as "Last Name, First Name", you can create that using this function.
UNIQUE()
Use this function to create a list of all unique values in a column. For example, say you have a list of client names and their email addresses. Some of your clients have the same email (maybe you have a few siblings riding in your lesson program) and you need a list of emails but no duplicates!
IF()
The classic "If this...Then that..." scenario in a spreadsheet function. What else could you need? IF you want to get advanced, you could "nest" your IF statements to create multiple dependencies that flow down as if you are working through a flowchart.
If the above scenarios sound like you, I invite you to browse my service offers and products. Else, I hope you return to the blog for more insights and share with your friends!
Translation of the above statement in Excel or Google Sheets:
